Haven't you written numerous blog want the Coyotes to part with Doan? Take a stand and stick with for once in your life. - tomburton99
You're the worst. I wish you wouldn't come here and ruin the comments section for people that want to have a good time.
You might notice the part of the article where I mention that I was wrong.
Look: People who think changing your mind is a weakness are losers. They won't go anywhere. If you won't change your mind when you get new information you will never succeed.
Even when I've written the Coyotes should move on, I've always made a point to say that I am a huge Doan fan, so I don't even think I'm being that inconsistent.
Either way, you ought to read some Emerson "A foolish consistency........." |

And for the record....Bourque had 59 points as a 39/40 year old defenceman when the Avs won in 2001, he was certainly a contributing member. - LeftCoaster
Sure, but you get my point. |

Enjoyed the blog and agree with you for the most part. You can't question Doan's loyalty. |

Face it: Bourque might as well not even have won a cup at all. He basically won it on a technicality.
I don't agree with this... Bourque had 59pts in 80GP that season playing for the Avs and then notched 10 points in 21 playoff games that year. I'd hardly call that a passenger.
I remember somebody saying that Rask is a better goalie than Price because Rask has a cup ring when Rask was back-up to Thomas (who won the Conn Smythe that year I believe). I'd say the back-up goalie who barely plays and takes home a cup ring is a more accurate description of a "technicality" win.
Other than that, I agree pretty much with everything else. Good on Doan. |

Shane Doan story:
I was hanging out with a buddy of mine, who was running the scoreboard for a tournament in Chicago.
Doan's son was playing on the Arizona team and Shane was on the bench coaching. What stood out to me was how the other two coaches were screaming and yelling their heads off at the kids and Doan never raised his voice. He observed the game, opened the door for the kids and would talk to them as them came onto the bench--giving little pointers here and there. He was very stoic. A legit bad ass in my opinion.
When the game ended, my buddy had a convo with him and he signed a couple pucks for us.
He was all-class. |

Considering that the Avalanche retired Bourque's number I think he was more than a passenger. Just look up the quotes from Sakic, Forsberg and Roy had to say about him. Admitting you're wrong is about something is a good start for your blog though. Keep that part up. |

Not saying he didn't contribute, but that was Sakic, Foreseberg and Roy's team. Had those guys joined the Bruins, it would have been Ray's team. I regret the word "passenger" a bit, but the point is the same. |

Have you ever changed your mind in your life? Tanner has an opinion, you might not agree with it but atleast be respectful.
Great read, James! |

Brett Hull did the same thing for both his Cup rings, he jumped ship to a team that was in a position to win in Dallas (99) and Detroit (02).
Does it make his rings any less important, debatable I guess, but I do get what you mean. Lots of examples of guys who came in a put the team over the proverbial hump to win it all. |

Doan is a loser
If Toews gets "credit" for being a "winner", then the opposite is true of Doan
He's a passenger on a perennially bad team in the middle of nowhere collecting a paycheck
When winning doesn't matter to you, you're name is Shane Doan |

Pretty wild to think that the Nordiques should have been their team and the cup should have went to Quebec that year. |

That's actually embarrassing and cheapens all the legitimate Avalanche players who have had their number retired, past and future.... |

So I'm the worst for giving Credit to Shane Doan for having an abnormally long career? A career where he's consistent for almost all of it. I wasn't the one writing blogs about running him out of town. You should probably be more appreciative of a player that put the franchise, community and family before his own desires of a championship. Tanner you're the best.
